Pilot with energy saving services

July 2009. 500 households in Amsterdam will use and test different energy saving services: the PowerPlayer, a website for operating the thermostat and an online "wizard" for collecting data about the energy use of appliances.

Main goal of the project is 14% energy and CO2 reduction. The project is an initiative of Dutch energy supplier Nuon, IBM and Cisco. The services are developed by Home Automation Europe in collaboration with Nuon.

Project partners are network company Alliander, Amsterdam Innovation Motor and housing corporations Ymere and Far West. The project is co-funded by the European Fund for Regional Development.

First energy neutral existing residential district

October 2008, Utrecht. The municipality ofUtrecht has set the ambitious target to be CO2-neutral in 2030. To achieve this, a district-oriented approach was chosen. The city believes in decentralized energy solutions, developed for and by residents. The ambition is to transform District West ("Wijk West") to be the first energy neutral residential district that was not built as suchl. Tho program lines have been defined: savings maximization and sustainable energy-conversion.

The municipality of Utrecht, energy supplier Eneco, two housing corporations and Home Automation Europe are making a long term business case and define starting-activities for the next three years.

Eminent e-Domotica, a new home automation system

August 2009. Comfort, safety and energy conservation form the basis of home automation system e-Domotica. This system is developed by Eminent and Home Automation Europe. With this advanced home automation system, Eminent (Dutch supplier of network products and computer accessories) presents a new line of products. Instead of separate products, Eminent offers an integrated solution, based on Z-Wave technology.
With e-Domotica, electrical appliances can be turned on or off automatically. Furthermore the home can be provided with a complete alarm system, including camera services. The system is operated with a control unit with touch screen.

PowerPlayer helps to save energy

July 2009. Research indicates that the PowerPlayer can contribute significantly to consumer willingness to change behaviour in order to reduce energy usage, by visually assisting in achieving self-set targets.

The Powerplayer is a display generating direct feedback on households energy consumption.

The research is done by UCPartners (energy and utility research and consulting firm), in collaboration with Technical University Eindhoven. Project partners are Dutch energy supplier Nuon, SenterNovem (government agency dealing with executing sustainable energy policies) and Home Automation Europe.
